Light yellow colour with sparkles in the chalice can be seen at first sight. Its smell reminds of blooming spring meadow, beds of white roses, strong aromas of locust tree flowers, hyacinth, but mainly of crushed pepper united by a honeycomb. The taste is amazingly full, juicy like enjoying segments of red grapefruit but also vineyard peaches. Mild bitterness and its spicy underflow gives it just what it needs. You will be surprised by the harmony contained in the juicy honey lime drop that is felt in the long aftertaste.
(Sommelier Tomáš Vyšvader)
Devín was cultivated in 1958 in Slovakia. Similarly to Dunaj, its author is Dorota Pospíšilová. She crossed two varieties - Tramín červený (Gewürztraminer) and Veltlín červeno-biely (Malvasia).
Also this vineyard was strongly affected by late spring frosts. There was the first grape harvest in 2015, approximately 2,500 kg but in the frozen year of 2016, we harvested exactly 924 kg :-( 1,500 kg less but the grapes were overmatured, even like noble rot raisins. The grapes themselves smelt like honey in the vineyard and that is transferred to and evident also in the wine.
Devín 2015 is now unfortunately sold out, bottling is scheduled in April 2017 but you can purchase reservation and it will be delivered after bottling.
