Attractively ruby colour, in the tones of wild violets at edges of the chalice. In the aroma, tickling black mulberry, a pinch of cassis, smell of liquorice. Fine tartness of sour cherries covered by exclusive dark bitter chocolate completes the elegant charm of this wine.
(Sommelier Tomáš Vyšvader)
The variety Dunaj was bred in Slovakia in 1958 by Dorota Pospíšilová and a team of plant breeders in the Vine Research Institute in Bratislava. It was created by crossing of varieties Muscat Bouschet x Oporto and Svätovavrinecké (St. Laurent).
Regarding our vintage, Dunaj 2015, the grapes reached the sugar content of 25NM, it was like a sweet-smelling marmalade; we knew it would be a great wine. We have helped it by milling it to an open tub where it was fermenting for 14 days, then we pressed it and put to barrels to stay there for a year.
After the year in 225 litre oak barrels, it was bottled.
